60 km Walk
What an amazing experience! Last weekend my daughter-in-law and I joined 2100 other women and (a few) men to walk 60 km through Calgary for the Weekend to End Breast Cancer. The first day we walked 35 km, slept in a tent city at Currie Barracks and then walked another 25 km on Sunday, ending up back at the Stampede Grounds for a massive closing ceremony. It was a truly inspiring and emotional experience and we met many wonderful and courageous people. Every participant has to have raised at least $2000 in donations before they are allowed to walk and many raise much more. The total amount raised for Cancer Research was a staggering $6 million and I am proud to have been a part of this. So much so, in fact that I have already signed up to do it all again next year!
