It has been a busy month in Bearspaw what with lots of new listings, constantly changing weather (typical April) and planning for the summer. We have decided to do our annual parade of Garage Sales on June 21st and will be advertising it shortly to the neighbours so that people can sign up. This is one of our contributions back to the people of this wonderful community and we hope we get lots of participants again It is a huge amount of work - poor Sheila was up till midnight putting up signs last year but it is a lot of fun - even when it rains as it did with a vengeance a few years ago! We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy, healthy and successful 2008. Our Annual Parade of Garage Sales was last Saturday and was a great success. Thank you to all the Bearspaw Residents who participated and to all the garage sale junkies who came and bought items. The roads were certainly busy and ou Garage Sale signs were to be seen on almost every corner in Bearspaw! Lots of work for all involved but well worth it. Same time next year?

Come out to our 4th annual Bearspaw Parade of Garage Sales this Saturday, June 23rd. We are proud to sponsor this annual event for our neighbours and there are always lots of participants and many great bargains to be had. We have over 20 homes registered this year and maps and address lists will again be available just by the Gas Station off Bearspaw Road. What an amazing experience! Last weekend my daughter-in-law and I joined 2100 other women and (a few) men to walk 60 km through Calgary for the Weekend to End Breast Cancer. The first day we walked 35 km, slept in a tent city at Currie Barracks and then walked another 25 km on Sunday, ending up back at the Stampede Grounds for a massive closing ceremony. It was a truly inspiring and emotional experience and we met many wonderful and courageous people. Every participant has to have raised at least $2000 in donations before they are allowed to walk and many raise much more. The total amount raised for Cancer Research

On July 28-30, 2006 I'll be participating in a very special event called The Weekend to End Breast Cancer.
I'll walk 60 kilometres over the course of one weekend with thousands of other women and men. The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, treatment, and services through the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

On Sunday February 25th Lesley and Sheila held a Client Appreciation Party for their 2005 clients. They rented the Historic Bearspaw Schoolhouse on Bearspaw Road and invited all their clients to an Art and Appreciation wine and cheese afternoon. The old schoolhouse was a wonderful setting for a display of artwork by the Bearspaw Art Club and the event was professionally catered and a wonderful selection of wine and cheese and hors d'oeuvres was offered. Probably the highlight was a magnificent chocolate fountain and a pyramid of fresh fruit for dipping. Sheer decadence! All guests went away with a beautiful pot of spring
